Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in 1 1/4 cups warm water. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy
- In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil. Stir until combined, then knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size
- In a non-aluminum pan, heat 4 cups hot water and baking soda over medium heat. Keep warm (do not boil)
- Once dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 12-inch rope, then cut into 1-2 inch bite-sized pieces
- Dip each pretzel bite into the warm baking soda water for 30 seconds, turning halfway. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a greased baking sheet
- Sprinkle with kosher salt and bake at 475°F for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown
- Serve with your favorite dips like mustard, cheese sauce, or ranch. Enjoy the perfect pretzel bites for game day!
