Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour and salt. Using two knives, (or pastry blender), cut-in shortening until particles are the size of peas. Sprinkle in cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough leaves the sides of the bowl
  3. Cut dough in half, leaving two even portions. Form into discs, and roll out dough between floured parchment or wax paper, until it is an inch larger than the diameter of the top your pie pan
  4. Place pie dough onto pie dish, and top with apple pie filling
  5. Gently place second pie dough onto the top of the filling in the pie. *Optional, to make a lattice, cut dough into strips and carefully fold to create weaved pattern
  6. Cover loosely with aluminum foil, bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15-30 minutes. Let cool for 5-10 minutes, serve & enjoy!

  • 2 cups ea Urban Meadow® All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon ea Urban Meadow® Salt
  • 1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon ea shortening
  • 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup water ea cold water
  • 3/4 cup ea Urban Meadow® Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ea nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ea cinnamon
  • 6 cups ea apples, peeled & thinly sliced
